DIY Removable Canopy for Collapsable Wagon

With 2 hula hoops, matching fabric (I used my leftover fabric), hair dryer, basic stitching skill (running stitch), fabric glue, needle and black thread, and wide elastic, I was able to make this canopy.

Back in my Dec.23 blog, my daughter got this collapsable wagon from Costco as a present from my Inlaws. We tried this already whenever we go to the malls or even if we just go out for a walk in the neighborhood and it was surely a hit! We got lots of compliment from others as they say that its a clever idea to transport a child in such places. We couldn't wait to use this in Disneyland. Btw, back to my previous blog, I wrote that I wanted to add a canopy on to it to give my daughter some shade or even some sort of a privacy if she manage to sleep while in the mall or in the grocery store. She always does that. Whenever she gets knocked out, she doesnt mind sleeping in the shopping carts lol! Her umbrella stroller wont recline so she can barely sleep in it.

And so, I checked with Amazon first to see if there's like a detachable canopy for sale.. And voila! I found this. Having a great review, I still kept looking for more and then I saw this. Now I got ideas on what to purchase, I still want to have something personal touches, DIY-ish for the wagon and here comes Pinterest!

Im glad there are a loooot of DIY CANOPY FOR WAGON ideas. I so love Pinterest! And another thing I love is that it will not cost me so much since I already have most of the materials on hand. So I came across this very cute canopy wagon from http://nik-of-all-trades.blogspot.com/2015/07/pimp-my-wagon.html?m=1 and started figuring out my own wagon. Here's my inspiration for this project.

And here is my version :

I added a cushion onto the flooring so that my daughter would be comfortable sitting or laying on it and covered it with the fabric and I stitched a seatbelts as well.

Then using a hair dryer, i heated the hula hoop to straighten out to make a support brace for the canopy to make it more sturdy and I fabric glue the ends and middle to keep in place.

And since mine is a fabric canopy, I stitched a wide elastic just the right size to insert the hula hoop poles. It may not look sturdy, but it is. Plus its easy to take off if you dont want to use it. I just have to keep telling my daughter not to play with it! Whew!!

So there you go, I am happy with the outcome of this project and I can't wait to use this for my daughter for our incoming travels next year.

Burpday!

Indeed!. It is a happy tummy for everyone. This Christmas is so special to my husband's family because it is their first time after a long while to spend Christmas together. Almost complete except for my one Brother-in-law who works nightshift in the post office. And so my MIL was super busy in my kitchen today. She doesnt want any help from me though but I just took my initiative to atleast wash the dishes or stuff she used and also did those easy menus like the embutido and the chips and dips..lol! We went to attend the mass at 5pm. Too bad they dont have the late night to midnight mass here in Newman unlike our previous church in Lathrop. But on the other hand, it was in favor for us because the kids and the parents-in-law couldnt stay up super late and my sister-in-law and family needs to go back home to Vacaville.

Anyway, after we got off from the church, we started our dinner. Our Noche Buena menu includes:

Embutido or the Filipino Style Cordon Bleu

Cassava cake with Macapuno and Langka

Lasagna

Chips and Spinach Ranch and Guacamole Dip

Cheese and Garlic Bread

Authentic Ilonggo Pancit Molo

Moscato

Red Ribbon's Black Forest Cake

Prime Ribs
So, see what I mean when I said its really a burp day! Lol.. After dinner, we chilled for a while and took pictures then at 10pm, we decided to do the gift giving. So my daughter started it all out and everyone followed and we call it a day at 11pm. My daughter is so funny bacause since its already past her bedtime, she really doesnt have much energy to open her gifts. But when she finally see whats in it, she wouldnt stop playing with all of it and forgot that she was sleepy already..😅 But of course, Mommy has to be firm and I tuck her in the bed and she immediately fall asleep.. whew! No sweat! Knocked out! Hahaha..

So thats how we spent our Pre-Christmas Party for this year. How about you guys? I would like to see them in the comment box below.  And by the way, here's a photo of our team. TEAM SALADAR!

MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

Random Thoughts

Been out for a couple of days because I/we were busy doing errands for the holidays. Early grocery for the Noche Buena (yup we still practice the traditional Filipino Christmas). Been touring around Costco, Asian Markets, Walmarts et. al. Aside from this, me and my hubby got to get some toys for our little one to open on Christmas. And believe me,we have to keep it for Shiloh or else, it wouldn't last on Christmas! Lol!

So,whats on your Christmas menu? Please share it in the comment box below.

By the way, I was busy with a DIY idea for my Diva.

This was a gift to her by my inlaws. It's the Utility Wagon from Costco. I always wanted to get her a new lite-weight stroller but Im afraid she will outgrow it quick so this is much better than the Little Tikes Wagon made of plastic. This is much durable, foldable, rubber wheels, easy storage and easy to maneuver. (This is the newest edition because the older one is said to have problems maneuvering), she can either sit or lay down when she wants to sleep and this can hold my purse, her diapy bag and milk in the pockets, shopping items since you have to pay $.10 per shopping bags lol! and its only $49.99 on season sale. The only cons for me is that this doesn't comes with a canopy. And knowing the California sun, it is terrible! So I checked Pinterest for some ideas and I will surely start doing it after the holidays.

So there you go for my blog update. Wishing you all a great holiday and a blessed New Year!

Slow Day!

My hubby went back to work today after being off for four days. Mother-in-law took charge of the kitchen lol! as she cooked Arroz Caldo for lunch and Kare-kare for dinner. (Yes! im such a lucky DIL). And so all I did today is to watch Shiloh and I had so much time to do pending chores such as folding the clothes. Gawd! I really hate doing that. I find it boring! haha:)

Anyhow, this afternoon I felt tired all of a sudden and kinda dizzy and nauseated. It's weird but I hope its the something that I am asking Santa God for.... baby #2? lol (PS: I havent had my pregnancy test yet. Its too early tho.. but we are hoping lol!)

On the other hand, my sister-in-law gave me these 2 Mary Kay products. The 3-in-1 Timewise Cleanser (tall box) and the Timewise Age Fighting Moisturizer (small box).

She said she was having breakouts with these so she gave it to me. So we'll see how it will work for me. I really don't have a super meticulous bedtime routine. As long as I make sure to clean my face and remove my make up and brush my teeth, I'm OK with that. Currently I am using the Elf Hydrating Cream and the Elf Exfoliator Facial Scrub and I so love it and did repurchase it for a couple of times already. But anyway, I will definitely make a review of this product once I get to try it.

Oxtail Stew (slow cooker recipe)

I just want to share my video on how I cooked the Oxtail Stew in a slow cooker which I filmed a couple of months ago I think. I love to learn different ways of cooking. Before, I would only cook through frying, sauteeing and boiling lol!.. But since now I got more cooking stuff, I was able to make dishes cooked out of the slow cooker, oven baked, grilled and pressure cooker. Im so glad I got the Kapampangan genes ü.. More of cooking videos as we get along here on my blog.

If you want to get more details abouf this recipe, feel free to comment below. Thanks!

It's been a long weekend

Atleast for me. I wasn't been able to blog for the past few days becauseit was a long 4days for me/us here at home. It started when my In-laws arrived on Wednesday night 12/14 at San Francisco Airport from Iloilo City, Philippines. They got here like around 9pm. Hubby picked them up right straight after his shift. They brought us some Pinoy goodies like barquilios, pulvoron, piyaya, my pinoy favorite shampoo, tea, Kraft Eden Cheese and the traditional Quezo De Bola and a loooooot more.  But my most favorite thing I got are these colognes from Bench

These was my favorite colognes back in my elementary and high-school days lol!.. I grew up not loving those fancy and expensive perfumes because it triggers my asthma. This may sounds weird but I have a conditional asthma where in it triggers in extreme situations like extreme weather conditions that I am experiencing right now (too hot or too cold), too sweet (in perfumes), etc.  Anyway my mother-in-law got this for me and my daughter.  Seafood Cities are selling these too but a little bit smaller size and pricey for $8 each i guess where as for all these 7, my MIL only paid Php500 or more like $10-ish. Beat that? My daughter also got some homemade dresses from my Hubby's Aunt who happens to be a tailor back home and I love how cute the colors and the designs. Too bad cause they are still big for y daughter and the dresses are best for summer. After few hours of chit-chats, we slept like around 2am and the next day was another long day :)

Thursday 12/15, we woke up around 7am because our Benz is due for some maintenance workout and the place is like around 2hrs away from here so we have to leave early before we hit the morning rush hour in Milpitas, Ca. Along with the In-laws, we reached our destination around 9am and hubby dropped us off to the Great Mall (an indoor outlet mall) for breakfast at Jollibee (yey!) while waiting for the rest of the stores to be open at 10am and do some shopping then hubby went to the dealership. We stayed in the mall for a couple of hours then Inlaws decided to do some groceries at the Seafood City Milpitas . And to avoid the traffic, we left Milpitas at around 3pm or so.

Friday 12/16, we headed to Turlock,Ca to get some more groceries from Costco and Target and got home by 2pm. When we get home, I had a terrible headache and felt nauseous so I just slept the whole afternoon.

Saturday 12/17 was a kinda busy day. I had to help my MIL to cook Dinuguan, Sinigang, Cassava Cake, then hubby was grilling Bangus, Porkchop and Talaba. It was like a welcome party for my Inlaws! lol!.. or just a simple get together since my Sister-in-law and family will be coming over from Vacaville. And we just super missed my MIL's cooking. I don't know how to cook Dinuguan so I watched her and will try it next time. And so, yesterday was full of food, drinks and catching up with a little bit of celebration for the Golden State Wariors' victory lol!..

Today 12/18 is just a homebumm day. Well, aside form going to the church this 9am, we just stayed at home and feasting on the left-overs lol!.. Hubby has to take a rest for now becuase he will be back working again tomorrow and will be off on the holidays till our daughter's 2nd birthday on Jan16. yey!.. I sooo love it when my hubby is at home with us. Since he goes to work and home every 4 days a week, still we miss him everyday. I guess im just being a clingy wife haha!

CHRISTMAS came in early today!

Thanks be to God!

Hello! welcome to my blog again. I am so happy today because I guess Santa came in soo early for me :) I got a reply from a potential client and we talked about his proposed project for me and we agreed to the terms and will be sending me further instructions via email. Hopefully I will be able to get the hang of the project and this will be one of my long-time client.

But anyway, YES!, being a mom #mommyfied  my life has changed so much but I am not complaining. I am a stay at home mom and I love watching my child grow and be 100% hands on in taking care of her.  I am lucky enough not to be obliged by my husband to work for now. However, I still want to be productive and earn while staying at home. Ofcourse its not all the time that I will ask money to my husband if I want to buy something for myself.  After all, my daughter is 2yo and she loves to play on her own, she watches her own show etc. She is no longer that hard to be taken care of.  And so I decided to get into some freelancing/work-from-home jobs and I am in it for almost a year now.

Before I got married, I was a super workaholic woman. Like no dayoffs for me (Yes, I still go to work even on my dayoffs and  consider that as my overtime), If I do, I get along with my friends to hang out go bar hopping, shopping. You know, the usual single lady would do. I was independent since then living in my own apartment, paying bills and solve my own problems haha! I enjoyed my life then in the Philippines and that is why I didn't have a hard time letting go of it and taking it to the next level of getting married here in the US and have kid(s). By the way I worked in a call center office 5years in Clark,Pampanga as a Customer Service Rep and 2years in Iloilo City as an Advanced Technical Support.

Being married, I learned to be practical.  And since it is not that easy for me to get into the medical field/nursing here in California, I have to go back schooling again and I would probably do that once my daughter reached school age already. (now I need more alone time to focus on my online lectures).  We don't want to put her in daycare eventhough her Godmother owns one because of the pros and cons and also that would adds up to our expenses as well. Mommies out there would definitely understand me. So while I stay at home, I make the most out of it and I thank God for the projects that's coming on m way.

Anyhow, I want to share to everybody my Upwork Profile

Alright, I guess this is all for now. I have to do some cleaning since my inlaws are coming home from the Philippines tonight. Yey! I am so excited to see them and of course- Pinoy goodies! :) I will share it with you guys soon. Again, thank you so much for taking time reading my blog and I look forward to seeing you on my next post.

Much l💋ve,
Anne
