DIY Decorative Storage Boxes

And Im back with another DIY that I would like to share to everybody. After organizing stuff from my kids' room and our laundry room, I was thinking about organizing our bathroom sink cabinet in our master's bedroom too but unfortunately I ran out of DollarTree storage bins and it may take some time before I can make a trip there again. Then I saw empty adult diaper boxes in our garage and thought about of making something out of nothing. Until I had an idea to turn these into decorative storage boxes.

I just had few things that I used in this project.

1. Contact paper. (I chose the 18" x 9ft size)
2. Masking tape
3. Scissors and box cutter
4. Old white blanket
5. Tacky glue

Starting of by chopping off the top panels of the box, then putting the masking tape to smoothen the part of the box that was cut, next is to cover the entire outer part of the box with the contact paper. Then finally,  measuring the height and width of the box (x2) and cut the blanket according to the measurement  and glue the side and bottom opening and flap fabric showing the clean/right side. (or just leave it without the fabric lol!)

I have 6boxes and so far I made 3 so once I finished them, I'll definitely start organizing our bathroom sink cabinet. So there you have it. I hope you find this DIY interesting and fun. 'til next time.

Laundry Room Organization

So much stuff to do yet so little time to make it happen. Until yesterday, I was able to organize our laundry room. We are so fortunate to have a bigger space to do our laundry. That is why it also turned out to be a storage for our stuff that were still in the box when we moved. Until such time it became a chaos and it was such an eyesore looking at our laundry room. Here's the before and after photo. I know! I super hate the mess too!!!

And ideas kept popping outta my mind and I know its time for some organizing to do.

So I made a trip to my happy place, the Dollartree after Saoirse's 1yo Wellbaby visit and grabbed these orange bins/basket to put whatever stuff in the laundry room. I put all the sprayers in one bin, next are the dusters, then the bin for my fabric softeners and deodorizers, bin for the bleach and cleaners and I made a spot for the detergent soap. I also took away those unopened boxes which I didn't mind checking whats in it and I believe those are no longer needed stuff (which I think it's mostly clothes) and these will just go to Goodwill. If you live overseas, you gotta find a spot for your luggage. That spot right there covered with white blanket was all luggage stacked together and I emptied the hamper by just washing everything whats in there. I also organized the hangers put on the side for the clothes we want to air dry. On the other side of the room were large storage bins for extra bed sheets, blankets and pillowcases. I just stacked them up nicely to look good.

I started organizing the laundry room late in the afternoon and finished at 2AM. I can't go to sleep without finishing what it has to be done. I ended up with a balikbayan box of clothes to send out to Goodwill and a huge box of trash that will go to recycle bin.

Ah! vacuumed floor, the smell of detergent and fabric softeners, more space to move around and organized large bins was such a relief! Makes me feel like sleeping in the laundry room! Joke! So tell me, what do you think about my laundry organization? Talk to you in the comment box.

Bookcase Transformation

So much fun and love for our Saoirse on her birthday (birthday blog soon) means more clothes to organize 🤗.  But no worries 'cause Pinterest is always there to the rescue. 😉 I came across this blog with the idea of repurposing a bookcase and turning it into a nursery closet space. Luckily I have one bookcase thats just sitting in the corner of my daughter's room and instead of storing books, I had photo frames and decors in it. Btw, here's how I made these very easy DIY furniture transformation.

I only need these tension curtain rods. I got the 18"-26" since my shelf's width is 24". These comes in 4pcs per pack which is I am happy about it and can still use these in my future projects.

To begin this project, I always start with a clean slate. I wiped clean the shelving unit and the rest of the bookcase. Next is I removed the horizontal shelving unit and rearranged it according to the length of the clothes and the storage boxes. The middle part of the bookcase was with a screw and I didn't bother to remove it and I know it's there for support. Then I arranged the dresses according to its length. The ternos stays on the top shelf and the dresses on the bottom shelf. These clothes are all sizes 18-24mos and would be perfect for her in winter. And lastly, i took away those tiny crate and shoe boxes out of their closet and put it in the bookcase to add more space in their closet?. Shoes are in the crate and her wash cloths and hair accessories are whats inside the plastic shoebox. And voilà! There goes my nursery closet!  I might do this again on the other bookcase I have in the guestroom😝. Hope you like it and tagged me if you happen to make one or if you have any furniture transformation ideas.
